Newton And Lynnville-Sully School Districts Pleased With Latest ACT Test Scores

The Newton and Lynnville-Sully school districts are very happy with the latest ACT test scores from their just graduated Seniors. Newton’s class of 2017 achieved an average test score of 22.2, besting the overall statewide average of 21.9. The national average for the class of 2017 was 21.0. Newton School officials say this is the 8th consecutive year Newton Seniors have scored better than the state average. The NHS 2017 class did better than students statewide in three of the four subtests, and exceeded the national scores in all four testing areas…which are English, Math, Reading, and Science. 79 members of the Newton High Class of 2017 took the ACT Test while in High School. In Lynnville-Sully….77-percent of the recently graduated Seniors took the ACT Test, which is the most commonly-used college entrance exam in the nation. Their average composite score was 24.5, the highest average at Lynnville-Sully in over 15 years. Five members of Lynnville-Sully’s Class of 2017 achieved an ACT Test score of 30 or better.
