Lynnville-Sully’s softball team recorded a 4-3 win in SICL action for the second straight game. This time the Hawk girls defeated host BGM.

“The bats were alive for the third straight game pounding out 11 hits  to score 13 runs,” Lynnville-Sully baseball head coach Bob Scandridge said. “The defense was also very solid as it turned a triple play to erase a rally in the fourth inning and a double play in the sixth inning.”

Lynnville-Sully led 3-1 after the first inning then broke things open against the Bears with a six-run third innings. The Hawk boys added one run in the fourth and three more in the sixth.

Van Zante went the distance on the mound for the Hawks. He gave up three hits, walked six and struck out five Bear batters.

“We had some timely defensive plays that kept the momentum with L-S. Whenever BGM was threatening we came up with some plays that stopped the rally,” Scandridge said.

Caden Dunsbergen drove in three runs for Lynnville-Sully as he hit a single and a double. Carson Dunsbergen and Isaac Collins each had two singles. Elijah Collins doubled and drove in three runs.

Hitting a single each for the Hawk baseball team were Van Zante, Corbin James, Rylan James and Josh Dunsbergen. Rylan James had two RBIs.

Lynnville-Sully’s softball team came from behind to win on the road. The Hawks trailed the Bears 3-1 after six innings. They pushed across three runs in the top of the seventh inning and held the Bears for the one-run win.

Mallory Loftus pitched a complete game for Lynnville-Sully. She allowed six hits and struck out three. Loftus delivered two singles, drove in a run and had a stolen base.
